From Next Year, Register Your Property Online
From next year, property registration will need just a click of the mouse. The recent success of the online passport registration system has inspired the Delhi government to implement a similar solution for property registration. All you have to do is log in, pay the registration fee and fix an appointment with the registrar for the paper work. There are a total of 13 sub-registrar offices in the city, registering 1,200-1,500 properties every day.
“Work has already started in two of the 13 offices — Mehrauli and Rohini,” said Vijay Dev, divisional commissioner, Delhi government. The system, he said, will make things easier for property owners.
South Zone first to OK building plan online
The South Zone office of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) became the first zone to sanction building plans online. A building plan for a property in Safdarjung Development Area (SDA) was sanctioned on the same day itself on which an application was received.
The application was sanctioned through uniquely devised software, which, without any manual endeavours or intervention by the staff, automatically displays the shortcomings in the drawings as per Building Bye-Laws 1983, Master Plan of Delhi 2021. “The day we received the application, we cleared it on the same day. This facility will be extended to other zones soon,” said a senior official of the MCD.
The scheme of sanctioning building plans through online system was launched on November 1. According to the MCD officials, the facility would be further extended to other zonal offices to make the procedure hassle. This would eliminate manual endeavours for examining of the building plans as well as charges.
The scheme, so far, is restricted to fresh proposals in respect of properties in residential areas. The plots measuring 400 square yards and above are sanctioned at the MCD headquarter and any plan below it are sanctioned at the zonal offices.
MCD claims that the online project will do away with the endless queues and the weighty files at its offices. Once the building plan has been approved, the architect concerned will get a confirmation through email.
The official site of the civic agency - www.mcdonline.gov.in has a list of architects empanelled online by the MCD.
The architects have also been imparted training and guidance on how to get the building plans sanctioned through this system. If applications are not cleared within a week’s time, the officer concerned will be answerable. It takes months for any such plan to be sanctioned at present, and graft flourishes. To get a building plan sanctioned is a must before one starts constructing a building in Delhi.
